Lily Bishop + Clare Bulley
So we live in Stoke, and we actually work in Stoke, at Crusts and Cakes. I’ve lived here since 1996. In the same house. And Lily since 2005… It’s a nice little community. Everybody knows, you know, everybody will look out for each other. And yeah, it’s nice. Like, you know, a lot of the people who work in the shops come in here and buy their sandwiches and lunch.
I’m up here at six o’clock. Do couple of deliveries. When we shut the blinds in a minute, I then have to deal with every delivery, go to Bookers [wholesalers], go to supermarket, print invoices. So yeah, because we do outside work as well. It’s nice to sit down with a glass of wine of an evening and watch Netflix. – Clare
In my spare time, I’m often running around doing stuff for this shop when it’s closed! But no, we do, just like to go out and meet friends and out for meals… I used to run but I can’t run anymore… I’ve just started watching a programme from back in the eighties, 1982, on TV… Brookside. I’ve watched it every Sunday. I just like to watch loads of it. Like, just sit there for like, few hours and that’s my favourite thing….Oh yeah, I love Barry Grant, he’s my favourite. – Clare
All the grandchildren, we’ve always took them up there [Blockhouse Park] it’s like the highest point in Plymouth, isn’t it? So you can see loads of photographs that we take – when we take them, we stand on the bit that goes around. Because you’ve got the [Plymouth] Sound, you’ve got Cornwall, so yeah, we like the Blockhouse. Yeah… It’s always windy up there though – weather!
