Photographic Census

During 2024, we’ve been creating an archive of pictures & words about people who live or work in Stoke, Morice Town and Ford, to be looked back on for years to come. We exhibited a selection of the photographs in shop windows across Stoke Village from 4th Oct – 20th Oct 2024, and a published special newspaper with all of the photos to share with everyone who has taken part.

Take a look at the photos below – who do you recognise?

To be part of the Photographic Census, local people have had their portrait taken by Josh Greet (our community photographer) and answered some questions from Haidee Dampney (our community interviewer).

Josh & Haidee have been popping up at local community events, meeting people door-to-door in the area, or by request / appointment. Everyone who has their photos taken as part of the project will get a FREE digital copy of their own portrait (so that you can print, share with friends and family, and keep forever!).

In April 2024, we were visited by the team from BBC Spotlight who reported the project on the local TV news (see a short snippet here!), and it has also featured in our local paper The Plymouth Chronicle

If you have any questions about the project, please get in touch with us via hello@thevillagehub.org.uk to find out more.
