We live here in the village. We’ve lived here for eight years… My job is running The Flax Project, it’s a CIC, a Community Interest Company. So it’s not for profit. I grow flax to make a local linen, and we run workshops and things to do with textiles and crafts. And we have an event here in Blockhouse Park every year where we build a big corn dolly out of flax
In our free time, we, sort of, rest? But we like to go to boot sales, and charity shops, and junk shops, basically, as a family… We have a dog, we like to go on walks with him. He’s quite old and he doesn’t need much of a walk.
I’m trying to make a local linen, and that’s to do with trying to be smaller and slower. We want to make things that don’t trash the planet. We’re at a moment in time where we are trashing the planet. So teaching people about clothes – how much goes into making these things, and how they shouldn’t just be thrown away. That they should be valued, using what we already made, having a small circular economy. Things to be sourced more closer to where we live.
